Notice to those applying for licensure in the state of Utah

Many DOPL license require applicants to submit fingerprints. These fingerprints are used by the Division for a fingerprint search through the files of the Utah Bureau of Criminal Identification (BCI) and the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI).

DOPL Fingerprint Services:  Fingerprint services are available, with no additional charge for DOPL applicants, via appointment at DOPL’s office (160 E 300 S Salt Lake City).  Please visit DOPL Fingerprint appointment scheduling  to make your appointment.  Valid government issued ID (i.e. US Driver’s License, State ID, Passport or US Military ID) is required.

Note: You must have an application on file with the Division or be prepared to submit your application when you arrive for your appointment. Electronic application services are available for most licenses.

Please arrive at least 5 minutes prior to your appointment if you are submitting a paper application.

SUU Police Department: Fingerprint Technicians are available to take fingerprints two days a week. The hours for fingerprinting are Tuesdays and Wednesdays between 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM, please call ahead to schedule an appointment. A fee of $20 is required for two sets of fingerprint cards and Live Scans fingerprints, and $5 for each additional fingerprint card thereafter. Payment of the fee must be done prior to appointment at the Cashiers office or pay online.

Please make sure to bring the following items to the appointment, a receipt from the Cashier’s Office; a photo I.D. (Drivers License, State ID card or Passport) and a hard copy of paperwork associated with the type of prints needed.
