Graduates stand together in front of trees on campus for a photo in their caps and gowns. The Southern Utah University Board of Trustees approved the formation of two Master's degree emphases, four graduate certificates, three Bachelor's degree emphases and fifteen undergraduate certificates, within the College of Engineering and Computational Sciences. All programs are set to begin in the Fall of 2024, allowing students to further specialize their education and prepare them for the booming industry ahead of them.
Through the efforts of dedicated faculty and staff, the College of Engineering and Computational Sciences has turned the vision of specialized education into a reality.

“Before the 2023-2024 academic year, I challenged our faculty to consider interdisciplinary programs and stackable credentials,” said Jeff Miller, dean of the College of Engineering and Computational Sciences. “I never imagined they would develop 33 new programs to complement our 40 existing ones. This incredible effort will provide benefits to our students for years to come.”

As the Fall semester approaches, faculty and staff continue to work hard to develop strong curriculums for the programs to come.

Graduate students will now have the opportunity to explore more options at SUU with the College of Engineering and Computational Sciences introducing new Master's degree emphases like, Cybersecurity with Information Assurance - Cyber Operations Emphasis (M.S.) and Cybersecurity with Information Assurance - Healthcare Administration Emphasis (M.S.).

As for graduate-level certificates, Master’s students can also work towards Post-Baccalaureate Certificates in Aviation Administration and Leadership, Cyber Intelligence, CSIA - Cybersecurity Governance and Risk, and/or CSIA - Security Information and Event Management.

Additionally, undergraduate students will have the opportunity to explore more fields through the introduction of Bachelor's degree emphases in Civil Engineering - Construction Engineering Emphasis (B.S.), Civil Engineering - Environmental Engineering Emphasis (B.S.), and Civil Engineering - Water Resources Engineering Emphasis (B.S.).

The college also offers the following undergraduate programs:

  • AMT Powerplant (Certificate of Proficiency)
  • Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning for Engineering Applications (Certificate of Proficiency)
  • Construction Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (Certificate of Completion)
  • Construction Safety Planning (Certificate of Completion)
  • Cybersecurity - Defensive Security (Certificate of Proficiency)
  • Cybersecurity - Information Assurance (Certificate of Proficiency)
