Business Law Society group in ArizonaThe Business Law Society at the Dixie L. Leavitt School of Business was thrilled to travel to Phoenix Arizona to visit prominent law establishments and provide students an opportunity to widen their horizons in the law industry. The trip toured the Arizona State University Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law, Thunderbird School of Global Management, and the prestigious law firm of May Potenza Baran & Gillespie. The trip was a fantastic chance to gain a broader understanding and perspective on the path to higher education through fellow law students.

It was great to hear personal experiences and the unique paths to a law degree, said Madison Pilger, a leader in the Business Law Society. The ASU representatives offered great insight into approaching the application process, considerations that should be made prior to picking a law school, and the various programs that drew them to ASU. The tour was a great opportunity for students wondering if ASU could be a good fit, allowing them a chance to see the environment ASU has created for its law students.

Several ambassadors from ASU came to speak to the group as well, including admissions and career counselors. These representatives offered valuable insight into the processes for graduate applications, considerations for law schools, and shared experiences for choosing ASU law and why. These insights lent motivation and inspiration to our SUU law students as they seek a higher education in law.

The group also met with ASU's Thunderbird School of Global Management. The management program offered an alternative to graduate school for those not seeking a career path in professional law. This portion of the tour emphasized a strong culture of diversity and inclusivity that is fostered by the Thunderbird School of Global Management and provided perspective on different opportunities our students may not have originally considered.

The trip wrapped up with a visit with Austin Potenza, a partner of the May Potenza Baran & Gillespie firm at ASU, along with a variety of the firm's litigators, associates and attorneys. They offered the students a valuable Q&A session that covered a variety of topics, including career paths, future planning and professional advice.

The Business Law Society at SUU is committed to providing its members with meaningful experiences that will boost their careers and professional lives after graduation. These experiences are crafted through club trips, events, and involvement. To get involved with the Business Law Society, visit the webpage or email davidgrant@suu.edu
