SUU Business on the Hill

The Dixie Leavitt School of Business was thrilled to be a part of the SUU Day On the Hill. Business students and faculty, along with other colleges across campus, joined together at the Utah State Capitol to commemorate and celebrate Southern Utah University. Several legislators and representatives from the Utah System of Higher Education visited the booth at the Capitol to network and connect with the business school and MBA representatives, where they presented their data on enrollment and growth percentages at the school. It was a historic day for SUU and for the business school.
The business school was represented on Capitol Hill by the interim dean, Ken Hall, Assistant Professor of Management, Eric Kirby, MBA Coordinator, Johnny Jergensen, and the School of Business Senator, Dani Nikolashin. The table for the business school handed out pamphlets and networked with potential students and important legislators. The representatives illustrated the work going on in the school and highlighted the achievements the school has made in the past year, as well as the room for growth and exciting opportunities in the coming months.
“I had the opportunity to advocate for the School of Business to many important people,” said Johnny Jergensen, the MBA program coordinator at the School of Business. “As a representative of the Master of Business Administration, I feel that we were able to demonstrate the strength of the program and the promising growth that we are experiencing.”
The crowning moment of the day was a press conference held for a historic signing between the Larry H. Miller Summer Games and the Special Olympics Utah. The agreement means that the Utah Summer Games will host the Special Olympics as part of the normal festivities. The agreement will be effective in the 2025 Summer Games.
Day on the Hill is a one-day session on Capitol Hill to meet with elected officials on their turf and represent a non-profit organization. The Day on the Hill effort is designed to bring nonprofit leaders together to provide them with the resources, training and space needed to build meaningful relationships with their important policymakers.
