SUU Wind SymphonyThe SUU Department of Music’s Wind Symphony will perform their concert, Instinctive Travels, on Friday, April 12, 2019, at 7:30 p.m. in the Heritage Center Theater. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for youth. Southern Utah University faculty, staff, and students are free with a valid ID card. Faculty and staff IDs are allowed one guest. Tickets can be purchased at the door the night of the concert or online at www.suu.edu/pva

Dr. Adam Lambert, Director of the Wind Symphony, shares, “This is among the most exciting-sounding wind ensembles to come out of SUU! This group plays with amazing energy, along with impressive beauty. We will be performing on the heels of our recent tour to Las Vegas and Northern Arizona. We will also be hosting a special guest conductor for one piece, Mr. Tom Lewis, grandfather of one of our students and former band director. This will be a special night.”

This concert will feature entertaining pieces including Hymn for the Lost and the Living, Star Wars, Instinctive Travels, and more. Mr. Tom Lewis will be the guest conductor for Let Us Break Bread Together

Mallory Barlow, a Junior Bachelor of Arts Major with an emphasis in flute performance from Kaysville, Utah, explains, “One of the most rewarding things about preparing for this concert is working hard on a difficult part of a song, and having it come out perfectly, or as close to perfect as we can get it. Especially when it's something that we as a section or a band have struggled with in rehearsals, but we can finally nail it; that is satisfying to know that your hard work has paid off.”

Barlow goes on to say, “Music is such a powerful force that can touch and connect with a person in ways that words can't. I love that music has the ability to bring people together to share in a common interest. Our concert is a perfect opportunity for the community to come and do just that. I love what we are working on and I want to share that with everyone.”
