MATHCOUNTS

MathCounts Logo

The South Central Utah MATHCOUNTS Chapter has seven participating schools that bring 66 students to compete for an opportunity to participate in the Utah State competition. Schools come from Richfield, Kanab, Orderville, and Cedar City.

Schools must register by December 1 in order to participate.

Visitors may observe only during the Countdown Round, 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM.

Because this is a national competition, no photography or recording is permitted.

Volunteers are welcome to help score and run the competition. The materials test the students’ knowledge of accurate terminology and formats, so their answers must match the answer key exactly. Please contact Dr. Larkin if you wish to volunteer.

Testing materials for previous years and other resources are available at the national MATHCOUNTS website. MATHCOUNTS was established in 1983 by professionals who use mathematics and problem solving in their workplaces. National sponsors include: Raytheon, Northrop Grumman, the National Society of Professional Engineers, 3M, and Texas Instruments.
