SUU Academic Scholarships ExtendedSouthern Utah University has extended the date to apply for academic scholarships for the Fall 2020 semester to June 1 to help new students impacted by COVID-19. Extending the date gives students who were planning to attend SUU in the Fall semester more time to apply for academic scholarships. It also applies to potential students who returned early from religious missions or delayed entry into the military or service programs options to begin achieving their higher education goals sooner than anticipated.

“We’ve added another 90 days to the scholarship application process to help future students whose plans have been disrupted by the spread of COVID-19,” said Brandon Wright, SUU’s assistant vice president for enrollment. “With the on-going uncertainty, now may be a perfect time for recent high school graduates to continue their education. Our SUU admissions team is prepared to help navigate those students through these unchartered waters.”

SUU can assist students with the following issues:

  • Withdrawing your deferment request for a future term
  • Activating your admissions application for an earlier start term
  • Looking into your scholarship and financial options
  • Completing your next steps, such as: registering for classes, finding housing, etc.
  • Understanding all of your flexible educational options
  • Students have two ways to begin their college education, either on SUU’s Cedar City campus or online.

For students and families facing financial worries caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, SUU’s online degrees are among the most affordable in the nation. According to recent rankings, SUU offers the 6th least expensive online bachelor’s degree programs, while the online master’s degrees rank 13th. Both are tops in Utah. SUU is also the only Utah public university to not raise tuition or student fees for two straight years.
