U.S. News and World Report Recognize SUU in Best Colleges List 2019

Southern Utah University has been recognized as a top-level university by U.S. News and World Report’s 2019 Best Colleges list.
According to the report, schools are evaluated in up to 16 areas related to academics including peer assessment, retention, class sizes, student-faculty ratios, ranking of its incoming freshman and graduation rates. The schools are then ranked based on their overall scores in these various areas, and the top schools are recognized in the Best Colleges List.
SUU excels in many of these categories, allowing the school to rank among the top Regional Universities in the West, and #27 in top Public Schools-the highest ranked in all of Utah.
“While increasing in college rankings are never our primary aim, it is gratifying to know that SUU continually climbs in national profile and attention,” said Bradley J. Cook, provost and vice president for academic affairs. “Rankings like this one are a nice validation of the hard work of our faculty and staff who are committed to making SUU's educational experience one of the best in the country.”
The report highlights SUU’s impressive student to faculty ratio of 19:1. It also boasts that 42 percent of classes have less than 20 students in them, allowing students to get one on one attention and help from their professors.
Students at SUU surveyed by the Princeton Review describe their experience as “a whole lot of fun” and “a whole lot of work”, with the core of that SUU experience being professors and advisors who are willing to devote extra time and attention to help students succeed in the classroom while also identifying enriching extracurricular pursuits.
U.S. News and World Report is the top source for higher education rankings in the nation. Rankings are organized according to a school’s mission and region in the country. Peer assessment, retention and graduation rates account for more than half of U.S. News and World Report’s evaluation.
