Aferdit Sadrija came to Southern Utah University wanting to study physical therapy, but found herself switching her major multiple times. She began to have one-on-one conversations with professors which sparked an interest to pursue a career in clinical research. Aferdit graduated with two bachelor degrees; one in psychology and the other in human nutrition with an emphasis in allied health.

Aferdit’s time at SUU was shaped by personalized attention from mentors, undergraduate research experiences, and leadership opportunities.

“These exceptional experiences have better prepared me for my professional and academic future by influencing my overall perspective on life,” said Aferdit. “I've grown to become more and more open-minded, and that in and of itself is an essential characteristic needed as I develop my future career path.”

Directly after graduation, Aferdit was hired as a clinical research coordinator for the Huntsman Cancer Institute, a highly noted NCI-designated cancer research facility and hospital.

Aferdit credits the outstanding faculty and staff members at SUU for her current success.

“Without great mentors at SUU, I cannot confidently say I would be working at one of the most prominent cancer institutes in the world today,” said Aferdit.
